About a year ago, I found myself at Topgolf with some friends, ready to take a swing at this game I had heard so much about but never really tried. I wasn’t expecting much from my first few attempts, but then something magical happened: I got my first clean hit. The ball sailed through the air, and in that moment, I was hooked. From that day on, my journey into the world of golf began.

Shortly after my Topgolf experience, I managed to score a great deal on some used starter clubs for just $60. Despite their age, these clubs have served me well and are still in my bag today. Coincidentally, a few of my buddies also got their own sets of clubs, and we started making regular trips to the driving range. It was the perfect way to practice and enjoy the game together.

As I got more serious about improving my game, I began researching ways to enhance my swing. I learned about the importance of a proper setup, how to gauge club yardages, and various tips to refine my technique. My curiosity and dedication led me to play my first 9-hole course at Santa Teresa in San Jose. It was an eye-opening experience that made me realize just how challenging golf can be. My performance was far from perfect, but it fueled my desire to get better.

To supplement my practice sessions, I invested in a golf net from Amazon, allowing me to practice at home. I aim to get in a couple of hours of practice each week, focusing on perfecting my swing. Although I’ve come a long way since that first visit to Topgolf, I know there’s still a lot of room for improvement.

Now, my primary focus is on refining my technique and getting consistent with my swing. I plan on taking professional lessons soon to further hone my skills and lower my handicap. This blog will chronicle my progress, the tips and tricks I pick up along the way, and the experiences I have on the course. Join me on this journey as I strive to become a better golfer and share the highs and lows of this incredible sport.
